Two New Sunday School Classes

For many years our Sunday School ministry has primarily consisted of one quality learning environment for adults in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.  The Lord has graciously blessed this class with fine instructors and faithful participants.  We give Him glory for the way He has been pleased to bring about growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through this Sunday School class.  We will continue to offer this class according to its regular format.

However, as we wish to grow and expand our opportunities for others to grow, we knew that it was time to follow the Lord’s leading.  As a result, I’m excited to announce the birth of two new Sunday School classes on July 12, 2009.  Praise God for His providence as we experience His unfolding purposes in the advent of our Sunday School growth.  He alone receives the glory for the development of both leaders and learners in each of the new classes.

New Children’s ClassOne of the new classes is for children ages 5 and up, which begins in the wake of jws1our summer Vacation Bible School.  Realizing that the Lord was blessing us by drawing children for VBS, we wanted to continue the momentum to enhance other areas of our children’s ministry, especially the Sunday School ministry.  Mrs. Jody Peterson will be teaching the class as they meet each week in the “Little House.”  The curriculum for the children’s class is produced by Children Desiring God Ministries and is entitled, “Jesus, What a Savior!”   We look forward to the lasting fruit that will result as the children learn about God and His Son Jesus Christ from a Biblical perspective.

New Young Adults ClassWe’ve been thinking about the addition of a new Sunday School class to yoscan0001unger adults for quite some time now.  But with the creation of a new class for children, we decided that this would be the best time to kick it off.  Now, not only the children will hopefully want to return again and again on Sunday mornings, but their parents will have a compelling reason to bring them and stay as well.  The new class will feature interactive discussion on Paul’s Biblical letter to the Philippians, one of the all-time favorite books of the Bible.  I (Barry Peterson) will be facilitating the class which will meet in the annex building at the church.  As a guide to assist in our understanding, we have chosen the MarArthur Bible Study Series resource entitled, “Philippians: Christ, the Source of Joy and Strength.”  We’re excited about how the Lord is going to use this class to grow a faithful new generation of leaders in the church.

If you’re in the Orlando area and would like to be a part of a growing, vibrant Sunday School ministry, please consider joining us in the journey.  We’re certainly far from perfect, but by God’s grace we intend to increase in our wisdom and understanding, not to mention faith.
